Counter size decides how much stock appears. Each Pokémon tends to bring something characteristic, such as Lum Berries from Zorua or Rawst Berries from Chansey, alongside staples like PokéMetal and occasional Lost Relic items. You can end a trading session but you cannot force one to start.
