Pokopia Moves
Ditto does not start out able to do much. Every one of these 15 moves comes from a Pokémon you befriend, and each one changes what you can do to the land.
Regular moves (8)
These sit on the move wheel and are used with ZR. A few are wired into the ordinary controls, so they are always to hand.
| Move | Learn it from | What it does |
|---|---|---|
| Leafage | Grows tall grass wherever you use it. The planting move. Grass you put down is not decoration, it is habitat, so Leafage is usually the first thing you reach for when a Pokémon wants somewhere green to live. | |
| Water Gun | Waters crops and brings dried-out ground back to life. Two jobs in one. It revives withered plants and terrain, and it keeps anything you have planted growing, which makes it the move the Withered Wastelands is built around. | |
| Cut | Cuts grass and timber down into materials. Your main way of turning what is standing there into something in your bag. Most early recipes want leaves or lumber, and this is where both come from. | |
| Rock Smash | Breaks terrain apart and leaves the materials behind. For stone, ore and anything else locked inside the landscape. It is also how you clear a site flat before building on it. | |
| Rototiller | Tills ground into soil you can plant in, and shifts existing beds. Farming starts here. It also picks up flower beds and crops that are already down, so a field you laid out badly can be moved rather than destroyed. | |
| Jump | Springs you upward, over gaps and up slopes. The traversal move. Islands and mountainsides that look sealed off usually are not, once you can launch yourself at them. | |
| Strength | Pushes and pulls heavy objects around. Both a puzzle answer and a haulage tool: it clears things blocking your way, and it carries heavy objects to places you could not otherwise get them to. | |
| Suck | Draws liquid up, carries it, and puts it down somewhere else. Water becomes portable. Take it from where there is plenty and spit it out where there is none, and you have made a new water source from nothing. |
Transformation moves (7)
These turn you into the Pokémon rather than borrowing one trick from it, and most of them exist to get you somewhere you could not otherwise reach.
| Move | Learn it from | What it does |
|---|---|---|
| Surf | Become Lapras and cross open water. The first transformation that changes the map rather than the moment. Anything across water stops being out of reach. | |
| Waterfall | Climb waterfalls while transformed. Pairs with Surf. Water you can cross is useful; water you can climb opens up the high ground behind it. | |
| Camouflage | Turn into an object standing near you. The one transformation that is not about getting somewhere. Becoming scenery is how you get close to Pokémon that would otherwise keep their distance. | |
| Rollout | Become Graveler and travel faster. Your ground speed upgrade. Crossing an area you have already built out is much less of a walk once you can roll it. | |
| Glide | Become Dragonite and glide down from height. What you use after climbing. Get high, then cover ground on the way back down rather than walking it. | |
| Magnet RisePost-game | Hover in the air as Magnemite. Held back until after the story. Hovering is the closest the game gets to free flight, and it makes surveying a build from above straightforward. | |
| DiveDLC | Go underwater. Added with the Expansion Pass, and the reason Bubbly Basin works at all. Nearly everything in the basin sits below the surface. |
Moves and PP
Every use costs PP. Eating puts it back, and some meals raise your ceiling rather than just topping you up, which matters on a long building session. The meal list covers which dishes do what, and flavours covers who wants to eat them.
Frequently asked questions
- How many moves are there in Pokopia?
- 15: 8 regular moves you use directly, and 7 transformation moves that turn you into a Pokémon.
- How do you learn moves in Pokopia?
- By befriending the Pokémon that has it. Each move comes from one specific Pokémon, so learning the full set means meeting all fifteen of them.
- How do you use a move?
- Moves live on the move wheel and are used with ZR. A few are wired into the ordinary controls instead, so they do not need selecting first.
- Do moves cost anything?
- They spend PP. Eating restores it, and certain meals raise how much PP you have to spend in the first place.
- Which move lets you go underwater?
- Dive, learned from Manaphy. It came with the Expansion Pass and it is what makes Bubbly Basin explorable, since most of that area sits under the surface.
- Which move do you get last?
- Magnet Rise, from Magnemite. It is held back until after the story is finished.
